Yoga Mats
A yoga mat is one of the most basic requirements for yoga practitioners. Remember that a quality and good mat will help you optimize and enjoy your yoga practice.
One of the factors to consider in choosing a yoga mat is its durability. As yoga requires numerous body movements, the mat will like be tainted with sweat and other microorganisms from the floor.
Keeping it hygienic is your primary concern because the yoga mat most of the time touches your skin. To keep it sanitized, it requires regular washing. Make sure that it can withstand and will last long enough for repeated washing.
The grip factor of the yoga mat should be strong. Again with your constant body movements, the mat should not be slippery to your feet and should have a strong grip to the floor.
The standard yoga mat is approximately 4-5 mm thick because it offers a good balance of cushioning and excellent grip. It is also easy to carry, roll-up and wash. There are also available lightweight mats which tend to be thinner. If you want to feel the firmness and stability of the floor, then this type of mat is a best choice.
Also always follow the washing instructions to lengthen the lifespan of the mat.
