Karma Yoga is a yoga that is based on the teachings of Bhagavad Gita, which is a Sanskrit scripture of Hinduism. You may have heard of it referred to as Buddhi Yoga and it basically means ‘discipline of action.’

It is one of the four pillars of yoga and focuses on duty while remaining unfocused on the rewards that such duties may provide. It’s key ‘manifesto’ is to attain Moksha, love of God, by doing ones duties with no sense of selfishness.

It finds it’s way into many other types of yoga, like Natya Yoga.

In Karma Yoga it is believed that one is born with Karma’s, or Samskars, and these can be either positive or negative in nature. These Karma’s are remnants of past lives that usher one to perform certain duties and tasks in his or her present life and this continues until a person reaches a zero balance.

By practicing Karma Yoga in one’s daily life they could easily find themselves more fit in both the physical and spiritual realm. This is attained through the physical act of practicing yoga as well as meditation and the devotion to sharpened reasoning.
