Dream Yoga is also known as Milam (Yoga of the Dream State). Some of the Dream Yoga sadhana are found with the suite of the Six Yogas of Naropa.

The process of dream yoga are very tantric and the techniques come within the Bardos of Dream and Sleep trance. Such, are some advanced forms of Yoga Nidra.

Dreams and dream yoga are important and relate strongly to maya and gyulu of the Buddhist traditions. The goal of Dream yoga is to dream while one is fully aware they are dreaming, thus, lucidly.

Once the dream state and lucidity are reached, one can do any number of things. Many practice other forms of yoga with in the dream yoga state, or perform certain yoga poses. Other things you can do in dream yoga are: speak with sentient beings, enter other plains of existence and lokas or anything the mind can conceive.

Buddha Shakyamuni often told his disciples to regard all phenomena as dreams. He used many examples, like an echo, a city in the clouds or a rainbow to illustrate the illusory nature of the phenomenal world. Dreams represent just one type of illusion. The whole universe arises and dissolves like a mirage. Everything about us, even the most enlightened qualities, are also dreamlike phenomena. There’s nothing that is not encompassed within the dream of illusory being; so in going to sleep, you’re just passing from one dream state to another

Dream yoga can be extremely empowering, powerful and transforming.
